Why choose Time over TimeClock 365?

Both Time and TimeClock 365 stand out as solutions tailored for seamless integration with Slack, a popular communication and collaboration platform. While sharing the common goal of enhancing time management and productivity, these two apps exhibit distinctive features that cater to various aspects of tracking, management, and user experience.

What's the difference between Time and TimeClock 365? What's right for me?

When comparing TimeClock 365 and Time, two products used for time management and task tracking, several differences become apparent.

Firstly, TimeClock 365 is a separate platform that can be integrated with Slack, whereas Time is designed as a Slack bot. This distinction gives Time an advantage for seamless and effortless integration with the widely used communication platform.

In terms of platform design, TimeClock 365 falls behind with its old-fashioned interface, while Time boasts a simple and user-friendly design for its web platform. This user-friendly approach extends to Time's colourful and easy-to-understand reports with filters, making it easier for users to interpret their data and make informed decisions.

Setting up TimeClock 365 can prove to be a cumbersome process, requiring a dedicated effort to understand and master. On the other hand, Time offers a quick and easy setup, automatically inviting all employees to the app, reducing the administrative burden.

The task and time management system within TimeClock 365 is complex, as administrators need to create projects, tasks within projects, and assign them to employees. Conversely, Time simplifies this process by allowing users to interact seamlessly with the bot through short commands in any Slack channel, enabling them to start/finish their business day and tasks without hassle.

One noteworthy feature that sets Time apart is its inclusion of invoicing and payrolls, which are absent in TimeClock 365. This incorporation adds value to Time, making it a comprehensive solution for businesses that require these features.

When it comes to leave requests, Time provides a more organized and user-friendly approach. Users can easily send leave requests through both the bot and website, and managers are promptly notified about the requests and any changes. On the other hand, TimeClock 365 lacks this notification system, forcing managers to search for requests using complicated filters on a dedicated page within the platform.

Furthermore, Time's all-in-one calendar displays all approved leave requests, along with company and national holidays, granting users easy access to this important information. TimeClock 365 does not provide such a consolidated view of leave requests and holidays, making it less convenient for employees to plan their time off.

  • Set up feature

Time specifically designed for Slack to create a seamless experience within the platform. Admins can effortlessly add the bot to their workspace and configure desired settings through a straightforward onboarding process. Additionally, this functionality automatically includes all participants within the workspace to the Time bot.

TimeClock 365 as a robust and standalone platform entails a slightly more intricate setup process. All users within your organization must be explicitly invited to join the platform.

  • Time-tracking

Users can effortlessly send commands in any channel to start or finish their work session, take breaks, as well as include a task description. The Time diligently tracks and records these timestamps within the channels, offering a streamlined and centralized approach to time tracking.

The time tracking feature is designed in a complex manner within the system. Administrators are required to create projects on the platform and subsequently include tasks within those projects. Once tasks are assigned to users, they will appear in the users' profiles and it is necessary for them to accurately select the specific task they are working on to ensure accurate time tracking.

  • Leave management

The leave feature of the Time allows users to seamlessly request and manage their time-off without leaving the app. This streamlined process simplifies the tracking and management of leaves within the workspace in Slack, enhancing overall efficiency.

Users have the option to submit their leave requests through both the bot (limited to the current day) and the platform. However, managers do not receive notifications regarding these requests and must utilize intricate filters to locate them on a dedicated page within the platform.

  • Invoicing

With the invoicing feature, employees are empowered to efficiently and rapidly generate invoices. This capability works to streamline the overall invoicing process, resulting in heightened productivity and efficiency.

TimeClock 365 does not include an invoicing feature. However, the platform offers reports that can serve as a foundation for the invoicing process.

A More Comprehensive Solution
to TimeClock 365

In conclusion, while TimeClock 365 has room for improvement — with its old platform design, complex setup, and lack of user-friendly features — Time emerges as a more user-centric solution. Its integration with Slack, simple design, comprehensive task management, invoicing capabilities, and efficient leave request handling make it a superior choice for businesses seeking effective time and task management tools.
